Pre-Operative Instructions for patients undergoing IV anesthesia

• You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for eight hours prior to the appointment.

• A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and be able to drive the patient home.

• Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow and low heeled shoes. Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed prior to surgery.

• Please remove finger nail polish/gel on at least one finger prior to surgery.

• If you were given an antibiotic, please start it the day prior to surgery.

• Unless instructed differently by your medical provider, take all of your normal prescription medications with a sip of water.
